Committing to morning blogging... for tomorrow at least! : D

Namaste Angels!

I'm taking care of mySELF by re-evaluating where I am.  (Maybe i'm just "evaluating" for the first time.)

So...being with disappointment and hurt.  I'm still meditating & praying on it.  These are BIG TOPICS for me...  What I know for sure is, I need to make a new commitment to mySELF in terms of this Blog.  One thing is, I'm clear that I need to commit to writing EARLIER in THE DAY.  This waiting till 11pm is giving me the blues.  I want to someone reading this to be able to log on at midnight or 7am and see a post that's relevant to that day...not the day before.  For example, writing about  Freedom on the 4th of July - close to midnight after the entire day of July 4th is done is totally lame!...in my opinion...well let's just say...I know greater excellence resides in me.

So I want to commit to writing for the next day.  Does that make sense?  Yah, I think it does.

With that in mind...and in heart, I'm going to call it a night and rise and shine and blog in THE MORNING TOMORROW.  I'm making a commitment to blog before 9am tomorrow.

Just making that commitment is making my pulse race with fear of ... disappointment.  .... hmmm .... well ... interesting.

I must be onto something!

Being With Disappointment and hurt

Namaste Angels!

I am taking care of myself by admitting I feel disappointed and hurt.  I’m disappointed that I missed blogging yesterday.  And, I feel disappointed and hurt by someone else’s failure to honor a promise to me and a group of people who I enrolled to donate their time and talent to an event.  Both of these things is an opportunity for me to meditate on integrity, intentions and expectations.  It’s late, I’m tired and I have to work very early tomorrow.  So I’m going to continue my Self Care and go to bed now.  I’ll allow myself time to be with all of these feelings and truly take them into my heart and into prayer.

Exercise Your Freedom to Self Care! : D

Namaste Angeles!

Happy 4th of July to all my American Angeles and Happy Independence Day to Every Angel Everywhere!  The theme of the day for me (and most of the U.S.A.), has been “Freedom”.  In Spiritual terms Freedom to me means the ability to choose your intentions,  your actions in total – the ability to self-determine and choose your path moment to moment.  As Freedom relates to Self Care, it is immensely important to recognize and give gratitude for the Freedom to even engage in activities of self care.  There are millions of people who live either in the grips of economic, political and/or social bondage.  And for the millions caught in bondage there are millions more on the fringes of bondage.  Where do you live?  Are you Free to exercise self care today?  If the answer is “Yes!”, I urge you to exercise that freedom RIGHT NOW!  If the answer is no I pray knowing that no matter what circumstance you are in, your soul is ABSOLUTELY FREE Right Now!  Today I took care of myself by meditating, praying, cutting my hair and taking myself, and my dogs to the beach to celebrate the independence that is mine.  There may not be any man made country on earth that is Perfectly Free, but each of us can practice exercising Freedom in our own hearts, souls and lives.

ABUNDANT BLESSINGS!

Starting, following though and completing. : D

Namaste Angeles,

Today I AM Taking Care of MySelf by celebrating the completion of a project today.  Today, J.Karen and I finally finished shooting her audition.  It took sooooo much longer than we thought - but I'm a perfectionist....once I get started.  Getting started is always the most challenging part of any project for me,...also finishing can be tricky...and sometimes the middle gets sticky too.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that starting, following through and actually finishing anything can be challenging.  But what's important is compassionately being with "what is" and enjoying the journey.

What is today is that it's the 4th of July weekend and I've spent much of it inside.  O.K. What is, is that after anticipating a long hot soak in our community hot tub - we were surprised to find that tonight is was a cold.  O.K. What is, is that no matter what is going on, no matter what the circumstances are...LIFE IS ACTUALLY GOOD!

If you are reading this blog... Congratulations!  ...You Can Read!  Do you know how many people are illiterate?  I don't.  But, I'm guessing it's a lot.  There are blessings all around us.  A Great Self Care tool is choosing to focus on the blessings - knowing that the blessing are the most important "What is".  Everything else will, I promise you, WILL fall away.

Abundant Blessings!

You Can Not Act From Despair...or with a foot up your...

Namaste Angeles!

I thought my previous post was going to say Friday - however I hit a snag - I thought I posted it correctly - but alas alack I had not!  So I scrambled to get it posted before 11:59pm - but was unsuccessful.

:  (  Ladies and Gentlemen, I have run smack into one of my classic self care snafus!  I did not give myself enough time to account for problems!  The perfectionist in me is totally bummed out!  Maybe I've set the bar too high by saying I'm going to blog everyday, maybe I should make it every other day - or as many days as I can, or bi-weekly or weekly?!  No, no, NO!  I don't want to give myself any "outs".

The whole point of this blog is to crack the whip, on myself...gently and with compassion of course... but never the less I really need to inspire myself to live into and from my greatest and highest good.

As a child somebody would have told me; "You need to have someone put their foot up your *ss to get you moving!" Really? Really?!, who started that saying?  It seems to me that having anything, especially something as large as a foot rammed into one's *ss would not inspire one to work harder, faster or better.  Speaking for myself,  I think that would actually slow me down..and... make me sore.  It would also most undoubtedly, slow down the fellow or lass whose foot is logged in me.  I mean, how fast can some go who's hopping around on one foot?!  Now there are two people who are definitely not able to work to their full potential because one has been reduced to a painfully sore crawl, while the other is hopping around like a peg-leg pirate.  But I digress...

So, it's only day 2 ...or, technically since it's past midnight - it's day 3 - and already I've suffered a potentially shattering disappointment.  I feel like Charlie Brown.  Arrrrggghhh!

Well, an amazing Director, Robert Grande Weiss once told me:
"Don't despair.  You can not act from despair."
Even though he was speaking of my frustration with acting in a scene from Richard Greenberg's "The Violet Hour".  I've come to embrace Robert's wisdom in every area of my life.  One simply can not take action when one is in the grips of despair.  Thank You Robert...I send you love on the other side of the veil.

And so; I shan't despair!  In the poetic lyrics of the song by Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern, I shall: "Pick mySelf off, Dust mySelf off and Start All Over Again!"

Victory thru bathing and set design! : D

I am taking care of myself!  Today I awoke and gave myself the luxury of taking a long hot bath.  Instead of meditating on a cushion, I meditated in a bathtub filled with lavender epsom salts.  Ahhhhhhh!  That was today's self care victory!  On the flip side I spent all day prepping to shoot my beloved partner for a video audition she needs to shoot and upload asap.  We just finished 10 minutes ago.  Part of me thinks I spent far too much time on it.  The other half of me is pleased because I LOVE DIRECTING.  The time consuming tech side of the prep was that this is an audition for a singing gig.  When we taped it last night we were both unsatisfied with the echo-y sounds of our living room.  So I went to bed bath and beyond and bought two mattress foams to provide sound insulation.  Still unsatisfied we proceeded to hang blankets on the wall, move our bed mattress and boxspring into the living room and in short - turn our living room into a set.  Then we proceeded to do take after take till we where happy.  Actually, my favorite takes were the ones for our blooper reel - the ones where our dogs started walking around in the background.  :  D  They are soo cute - they definitely pull focus from the star: Mz. J.Karen...so We had to put them in lock down the in the bedroom till we were done.  Never work with kids or animals!  Well, I'm sure no one is reading this yet, because I don't think I've properly made it public...hmmm gotta fix it tomorrow.  Anyway, I'm content that I lived into my goal of logging an entry before midnight!  How are You Taking Care of Yourself?  You'll have to let me know once I get this out.

How are YOU Taking Care of YourSELF today? : )

Namaste Angels!

I AM taking care of myself today by starting this blog.  How are you taking care of yourself today?
This blog is for YOU!  It's for Me.  It's for Everyone.

I have this...habit, and I suspect you out there may know what I'm talking about.  So, it's like this: we are in bed at the end of a long day and since today was less than stellar, we imagine that tomorrow is going to be totally AWESOME!  We plan to wake up 20 minutes early and take care of yourself by doing something absolutely delicious just to fill our own well.  You know that thing you want to do that is totally none essential to the western world of "doing" - yet is completely essential to the inner world of "BEING" and truly LIVING!

Maybe it's meditating, exercising, yoga, journaling, reading the Sunday paper (even though it's Wednesday).  Maybe it's emailing someone to say: "I'm sorry" or, "I need help with..." or, "I miss you" or, "I love you".  Maybe it's writing that: book, blog or screenplay you have inside you.  Maybe it's calling an old friend, playing the guitar badly, singing to your dog or waxing some body part...whatever it is... it's something Only You Can Do For You, to Take Care of YOU!

Then it happens... life!   The alarm clock goes off and we hit the snooze alarm.  The 20 minutes scheduled for first thing in the morning gets shifted to lunch time, then lunch comes and suddenly there's more work to do --- so "self care time" is pushed to the end of the workday.  That arrives and a friend calls with an emergency or you're so wiped out you think well...I'll just scrap "me" today and give it a go tomorrow.  But SURPRISE! tomorrow is like today but you're 24 hours older and seemingly none the wiser or happier.

I'm at a place in my life where I am truly waking up to the need to take care of  mySELF.  I say SELF in all caps because it's our true SELF, our SOUL, that eternal part of us that was never born and will never die - yet it always exists and always needs tending to, nurturing, loving.

I grew up believing those who put themselves at the top of their "to take care of list" were the worst thing in the world... SELFISH.  Now I know in the realm of a balanced holistic life: Self Care is not selfish - it's Self Loving!

And so dear Angels, everyday I'm going to post something.  Some days it will be a lot, some days it will a little, but I know for me, I need to build constancy.

I INVITE YOU TO JOIN ME! Post "I AM taking care of myself..."  and fill in the blank with whatever.
You don't have to commit to everyday, whatever works for you.  It's an invitation to remind yourself to do it.  And an opportunity to see how other people are taking care of themselves.  Who knows, maybe you'll be inspired by someone else - or be the inspiration to another.  In the end, we are all ONE.

Today I AM taking care of myself by starting this blog.  How are you taking care of yourself today?

And So It Is!  ...Aloha from Hollywood, CA - Mz. Divine
